All roads lead to ... an end.
Welcome to r-dub's site-within-a site, Colorado State Ends. It's the goal of this page to capture all existing interstate, US, and state highway ends in the Centennial State of Colorado.
Because of all the goodies I have here in this section, I thought an FAQ would be in order.
How are we going to know which pictures are new? Good question. As I keep playing with the Google Maps API, I'll figure out how to make custom icons and use them for new pics. For now, you'll have to remember which pics were there from your last visit.
What are those numbers under the map? Those numbers are Google's Latitude and Longitude of the center point on the map. I used them heavily while coding the pics, markers, and lines, and I was too lazy to take them out. My rationale is that you may want to plug those numbers into a geocoder to get the true lat and long of the pics.
Why can't I see the maps/ends/pictures? Do you have JavaScript disabled? If you do, you won't be able to view the maps at all, so you won't see the pics either. If you have JavaScript enabled, try another end page. If you can see the map in all the pages but one, more than likely I bunged something. let me know.
Why did you do all of this? Let me point you to the third definition of the word masochism. (Definitely the third reason is the only one that applies, you perv.)
Would you like some of the end pics I have available? Definitely! Any submitted pic will be shown and credited accordingly. Just drop me a line.
Have you traveled the entire route for the routes you have photographed? Depends. The shorter routes, yes. For the longer routes, it depends on how close to the home base the route is. I'm working on a traveled route map of the state to post here.
Why are some of your ends using the "Hybrid" map while some only use the plain map? This is a result of how good the satellite images are on Google Maps. Where there's a satellite image good enough to get down to the lowest level possible, I'll use it. When not, I use the generic map.
How come you don't have state highway X listed? For the time being, I'm only dealing with state highways that are currently signed. Former state highways and old alignments of existing highways are not being counted for now. If you don't see a number, that route is not active.
What kind of camera are you using?/What kind of car do you drive? I'll direct these questions to my About Me page on my site.
How long did it take you to put this all together? Too. Damn. Long.
Would you be willing to build a site for me? Well, I am a general manager of a coffee shop here in the Springs, so my time is somewhat limited, but if the price is right... </shameless plug>
Get a life, damnit! Sorry, your question has to be in the form of a question. Next!
Okay, why don't you get a life? Well, I would, but that would interfere with my random wanderings. And where's the fun in that?
What is the meaning of life? Well, since we have determined I don't have one of these, I really can't answer you. However, according to one hitchhiker, the answer is 42.
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Dunno. Let me ask she that sells sea shells down by the sea shore, and I'll get back to you.
Timmmaay? TIM-MAY!!! Too obscure?
You seem to have a pretty random sense of humor. Why is that? The sky is blue.
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any of the orginizations listed within this site. I'm just a bored roadgeek with way too much time on his hands. All of the picts in this page are mine and mine alone unless otherwise noted. Remember, kids: stealing is bad, mmmm-k? I get quite pissy if things are taken without telling me. I don't like to be pissy. You won't like it either. If you want to link to this page, that's fine. Please shoot me an email beforehand so I can link to your page as well. K? Thanks. --Ryan
