Exit 149 - Woodmen Road aerial picture
After 4 (!) years, this interchange's reconstruction came to a close late in 2004. The original contractor went bankrupt in the middle of the project. CDOT hired another contractor to finish. It's interesting seeing the way they widened the lanes for future expansion. It looks awkward now, but I'm supposing that once COSMIX is done with it, it'll all be smooth through here again. I'm also hoping that the COSMIX project will fix a lot of the little things missed by the previoius contractors. (Exit tabs on BGS's? We don't need no stinkin' Exit tabs!)

This sign was covered when the N. Nevada exit was closed for a bit. Crews forgot to uncover it until a few days back even though the exit was reopened.

The southbound lanes have been shifted onto the new cement. The woodmen onramp's accel lane is now exceptionally short, so there's always a backup here now, usually extending back to Academy Blvd.

Since the northbound traffic is currently using the old southbound lanes, there's no chance to have the left exit to Nevada open right now.

Heading north towards Woodmen, we see that the inside lane is now paved in cement to match the rest of the road.

The "W199.5" label is left over from the TREX project in Denver: crews painted the mile markers on the barriers.

This SUV decided it would be fun to bounce off a semi and the cement barriers at 4:00pm. The resulting backup crippled the northern part of this city.

Recent updates
- 05/11/06
Since the speed limit drops to 45 about 1/2 mile back, crews had to cover this sign--poorly. The entire sign was gone two days after this shot was taken.

The Corp Centre exit sign is finally covered over. The exit was closed for over a week before this happened.
