when cranes go boom

Tim-berrrrrrr!

On Friday, November 10, 2006, crews were placing new girders at the North Nevada exit. A crane, while heavy with the load of a 140 ton girder, collapsed. The crane fell into the southbound lanes of I-25. Luckily, the crane made enough noise to alert everyone involved in the pending disaster, so there were no injuries. I-25 southbound was closed from 12:30am to 6:20am on this morning, and then had interminnent closures throughout the day while the girder was lifted again. This is the third crane accident in the COSMIX project.
