the southern figure-8 tour
Looking back at the trips I've taken, I noticed something. I have gone north, west, and east of Colorado Springs, but I haven't headed south. I decided I needed to fix that. One eight-hour car trip later, I came back with a fistful of pictures. Here they are!
Where to begin? How 'bout page 1?
Page 1 finds us wandering south from Colorado Springs through a few construction sites and a new rest stop.
Page 2 shows us Pueblo, CO from the interstate.
Page 3 spotlights the hustle and bustle (in the form of strong crosswinds) south of Pueblo into Walsenberg.
Page 4 is in and around Trinidad and Raton Pass. There's also a US highway END! side trip.
Page 5 shows us Raton Pass. "What the hell-ass is with that color scheme?"
Page 6 finally sees us heading west on SH 12, once we finish with Raton Pass and Trinidad.
Page 7. State highway 12 in all its scenic glory. There's some big pics on this page.
Page 8 head us back across our first trek through Walsenberg, thus concluding the lower half of the figure-eight. We then head east.
Page 9 is all about the La Junta area. We even manage to get 3 (count 'em!) more END!s under our belts before we run out of daylight.
