birthday 3-1 tour
Another year has passed in the life of r-dub. Guess it's time to celebrate with another road trip. I've got a hankerin' for some pass hopping. Let's see where these roads will take me this time, shall we?
Happy b-day to me!

Page 1 Finds us in downtown Colorado Springs headed west. Sure, it's a re-hash of pictures from another trip, but it's worth the increased resolution of this camera.
Page 2. Still heading west from Colorado Springs, we'll reach Buena Vista here and turn off onto new (to us) roads in the form of Cottonwood Pass.
Page 3 shows us the east side of Cottonwood Pass in all its glory. We'll even start to go down the west side a bit.
Page 4. Still descending Cottonwood Pass. We'll meet up with Taylor Reservoir, and I get to show off some scenery. We also get stopped up by some road work.
Page 5. Heading towards Crested Butte. See a Mormon Conspiracy, a knight fighting a dragon, and a bridge that's begging for mercy!
Page 6. Crested Butte and Kebler Pass. There's pancakes, sign goofs, artists, and dirt roads. No elves or cookies, though.
Page 7 showcases the drop into Anthricite Canyon, a lawn ornament that I'm not in the mood to move, and more bicyclists that I can swerve to avoid. We'll also see a state highway END! too.
Page 8. State Highway 92 runs along the northern rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. This is a long enough road for me to ask "are we there yet?"
Page 9 shows us Colorado's largest man-made lake, Blue Mesa Reservoir. Once we're past that, we hit Gunnison.
Page 10. We're in Gunnison for a bit, gawking at some old truss bridges. Then it's on to attack Monarch Pass and some clouds. *sigh* Damn clouds...
Page 11. Coming down Monarch Pass, we see a gaggle of people doing something off the side of the road plus reconnect with Bon Jovi. We also complete a large loop on the way back to the Springs.
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any of the orginizations listed within this site. I'm just a bored roadgeek with way too much time on his hands. All of the picts in this page are mine and mine alone unless otherwise noted. Remember, kids: stealing is bad, mmmm-k? I get quite pissy if things are taken without telling me. I don't like to be pissy. You won't like it either. If you want to link to this page, that's fine. Please shoot me an email beforehand so I can link to your page as well. K? Thanks. --Ryan
