Jonesin' for a roadtrip, take 1
So I'm sitting around my home on the night of August 22, and I decide I need to get out of the city. Badly. I decide that bright and early the next morning, or whenever I finally decide to wake up, that is, I'm going for a drive. I decide to go west, but that's about all I know. And, as a treat to all of you, I decided to bring my camera along. One photo log is now up and ready for your viewing pleasure. Many of these photos are sized for a 1024x768 resolution monitor. Those viewing this site at a lower resolution may have problems. You've been warned. Hope you enjoy tagging along on my Sanity Break 2005 tour!
Pick a page, any page...
Page 1 Starts us on the journey of six mountian passes. I've pointed the car west. Let's see where we end up.
Page 2. From Wilkerson Pass to Trout Creek Pass through Buena Vista and the upper Arkansas River valley. Then we're starting our ascent of Independence Pass. Nobody's afraid of heights, right?
Page 3 takes us to the top of Independence Pass and down the western side towards Aspen, Colorado. See a state highway too narrow for a centerline!
Page 4 goes from Aspen down the Roaring Fork River Valley towards Glenwood Springs. See the "next Glenwood Canyon!"
Page 5 Continues trucking along down the valley and finally into Glenwood Springs. Check out the skid marks on one of the pitcures! That had to hurt.
Page 6 spotlights the most scenic stretch of interstate highway in the United States (in my opinion): Glenwood Canyon. Heck, I even got the inside-the-tunnel pics to come out! Woo-hoo!
Page 7 finds us back on US 6 paralleling I-70 around the towns of Gypsum, Avon, and Eagle. Then we jump back onto I-70 through Vail and start to ascend Vail Pass.
Page 8 goes from the summit of Vail Pass down to Frisco. After stopping for new camera batteries in Frisco, we head up and over Loveland Pass.
Page 9 ties up all the loose ends on the way back to Denver. It's a great way to end a great drive.
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any of the orginizations listed within this site. I'm just a bored roadgeek with way too much time on his hands. All of the picts in this page are mine and mine alone unless otherwise noted. Remember, kids: stealing is bad, mmmm-k? I get quite pissy if things are taken without telling me. I don't like to be pissy. You won't like it either. If you want to link to this page, that's fine. Please shoot me an email beforehand so I can link to your page as well. K? Thanks. --Ryan
