random pictures, page 4
While in my wanderings, I take pictures. This is a given, since I have a site dedicated to pictures in and around Colorado Springs, CO. Well, sometimes I take pictures that don't fit into a specific category that I have developed here on r-dub.us. When that happens, I will drop them here. Don't expect any order to these pictures, other than the fact that they're put up pretty much in cronological order. Happy surfing!
Randomness for everyone!
That's a nice ride the fuzzy has. That cupholder-type thing just to the front of the rear wheel holds the radar gun. Guess what this officer was doing while I got the pic?
That's an oooolllld no pedestrian sign perched high atop a street light pole that also carries the street signs for Nevada Ave (which we're on), Ramona Drive (which is the perpendicular road), and Mt. Washington, which is the angled road at this intersection.
I think the person who is typing the VMS messages better get on the ball and change this from Slowing Traffic Ahead to Stopped Traffic Now!
One of the advantages of the COSMIX Project is that old signs that used to be hidden behind trees get to see sunlight and the prying eyes and camera of this roadgeek. This is on SB I-25 just before the Bijou Street exit.
Downtown Colorado Springs, where this parking garage disguised as shops sits virtually empty. The reason? It's "too far to walk" to the main sections of downtown. It's a two-block walk, for those of you wondering.
You may think this belongs on the WTF? page, but it doesn't. You can't make an immediate right onto the offramp, but you can make the second right (still in the same intersection) onto the frontage road.
There seems to be an epidemic of traffic lights losing their visors in this town. This is the fifth "naked" light I've seen today.
No picture better defines drivers in Colorado Springs. This guy pulled off the EB lanes of this road into this driveway in order to make a U-Turn. The problems: 1. He's partially blocking the right lane of traffic. 2. He's blocking enough of the driveway so that people trying to turn into this driveway can't. 3. He's obviously blocking traffic exiting on this driveway. 4. The road he's trying to pull the U-Turn on is quite crowded, mostly because it's 5:00 at night, so he's stuck here for about 10 minutes. The eventual gridlock over this one van was a sight to behold. And all the dumba$$ had to do to solve this was to turn into the driveway like a normal driver and turn around in the gas station parking lot that's right behind me in this pic. *sigh*
This sign has seen better days. When I first saw this, my thought pattern was as follows: "Wow, that sign is beaten up.... It was installed in 1990 (the black tag in the lower left)... that's not that old to be.... waaaaaaaait a minute.... that sign is 16 years old..... damn, I'm getting old. Also, there's supposed to be a red "No Soliciting" line on the sign in the background. It's faded off the sign. (Plus, it's not like the panhandlers actually pay attention to the sign.)
Can't find the access panel for the streetlight base? No problem! Use electrical tape to close it. Gotta get back into the base? No problem! Cut the electrical tape! And the Sonic cup is there simply for decoration.
More pics as I get them!
